Authority, common sense and modern A.I.

Do public sector organisations need to own their AI training bases? Is this another iteration of the question originally posed at www03, by Fagin, Kumar, McCurley, and others in their paper “Searching the workplace web” , suggesting that in-link popularity lists undervalue authoritative answers against popular ones.

This is important, as when evaluating law and rules one needs to obtain authoritative answers, in these cases, the common sense answer will often be wrong, deliberately so it’s one reason why “automated profiling” and decision making is prohibited by Europe’s data protection laws.
